The new cast times as a fisher

As of yesterday as we all know there was a change in cast times. Now that being said let me also state if you are easily offended don't read any further because I really don't want to hear anymore whining. Ok since you are still reading this I am going to assume that you can take things as an honest opinion and not complain.

We all started doing the Gold or Fish Hunts for the same reason.. To make some extra L$. Along that way we have found new friends or places to see we wouldn't have otherwise. Now we all realize that by doing these things we are not going to get rich. But some people apparently have though otherwise. In this gimme gimme world (RL and SL) there are some people that want to share their world with us and entice us by giving us some L$ for our time.

Now that being said I remember when I first started SL, way back in the day the only way to earn some L$ just starting out was camping spots or money trees. Not very exciting stuff and you would meet some people along the way and start to learn about the world of SL. Getting my fist 100L$ took FOREVER.. And let's face it was rather boring,Then I learned the creating aspect, that's when I really got started learning SL. A lot of it was learning on my own to begin with. After I got to know more people I got a SL job hosting a club and made a few more. I became a landowner after working hard and saving my L$. I got to know a lot of people and sold a lot of my creations. Then I went away for a long time 5 or 6 years. When I came back to SL I came back basically as a newbie. My friends had all gone, and everything except my inventory was gone.

Then I found Gold Hunt. I started, and got a few coins and was having fun until the lag monster found me and it got a little frustrating. Then I found the Fish Hunt. The LGH group has become a great source of information and taught me a lot. They directed me to the Wikis, and I learned even more. And as I talked to these people friendships formed. I usually am either working or crocheting while fishing and really enjoy the chat for the most part.

Ok enough of a history lesson into my SL experiences... Now to get to my point. We are being given L$ by the wonderful land owners for sitting on their land for a little bit. They don't have to do this, but they do. And what do they get in return? Badgering from people wanting them to give them more L$ in the forms of multiplier events, and getting rude comments etc if their buoys aren't filled. Would you give away L$ to people? Probably not. They are a part of the group and do the different events and games for us. They don't have to do that at all. QUIT COMPLAINING! So far for the most part everyone who does this are genuinely nice people. And they take every ones abuse, and try to help and get nothing in return for it.

The cast times are not affecting earnings, they aren't affecting anything but the length of time we visit each place and each other... Please for the love of God get over it!! Think about it this way in RL does 15 seconds really affect you if you are doing something for either work or enjoyment? Not really. It's just more visible on the rods because of the timers. And for that reason everyone is up in arms. I for one would like to see more buoy owners, and be able to discover new places while chatting and earning a few L$ here and there. If you don't think you are earning enough? LEARN TO MAKE SOMETHING!!! Don't leech off people and complain when they don't want to give you money for nothing. GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!!

Very well said. I was a little surprised at the new time, its not a big deal to me anyway becasue i usualy have youtube up along with sl. (or dealing with kids in RL) so i dont even notice the time passing. People come into this thinking its a get rich quick kind of thing and its not. Just like all the camping ect it takes awhile for money to build up.

I came to LGH 2 years ago, (around that, could be longer, who counts..))

i must say it is the most addictive sim traffic generating programs for Landowners (and visitors / fishers) i ever experienced in SL.

Though the new cast times came for me a bit surprising (i was offgrid for some time, since rl work).

What i always found very way off (no offense) is the fact that people think fishers should be "thankful" that Land Owners have their Buoys on their Sims and the fishers can get "free money".

The so called Free Money is for the fact that you generate traffic on that specific Sim (unique avatars are counted on daily traffic when they stay at least 5 Minutes according to LL). ((same like ordinary camping worked back in days, no one would have ever thought of it to say "Thank you, for allowing me to dance on a spot for 1 hour to gain some L§)...Dont get me wrong "i still say "Thank you for the fishes" after each visit, but thats cause of manners,..

LandOwners buy and fill their buoys to have this traffic, so some people make Landmarks, stay, roam after the fishing is done and so on..they advertise their Sims like that, since most land owners have shopping malls around, gaming machines and so on...

So to the OP....no one "leeche  people off"  and no one is given free money for nothing.

I also agree, almost everyone is nice and loves to help, but also everyone has some kind of business in here..

PS: I still love the community, which might be one of the best in SL but pressing  people a stamp on their forhead and telling them they should be thankful or shu** up..is way over the line..just my two cents :-)

.Greetings,

Alex

Aex, you're dead wrong on this.

You are suffering from a common misconception that SL business make money. All but small percentage of SL "business" are operating at a LOSS. And for all but small percentage of those who do show any kind of profit after costs, that profit is so small it's not even worth talking about. That's right. People are spending their time and money creating things for you to enjoy and the cost of the item helps to offset some of that cost but that's it. And then they hold events like fishing events and pay more of their own money to bring people in to enjoy the things they have spent their time and money creating for people to enjoy.

So yes, be thankful!
