LANDOWNER INFORMATION GUIDE

As a land manager, helping keep a full SIM as lag free as possible and renters happy while the land hosts 4 fish hunt buoys, gold hunt coins, 3 trivia balls, 100s of worm farms, bio composters, sunflowers and loads of snuffle collection sites, along with other breedables, games and shops.

DISCLAIMER: I am speaking of SIM lag, so server side. Not to be confused with personal lag, client side. Client side is subjective to computer specs, internet speed and correct viewer settings and you cannot suit for everyone, that is up to the individual to manage.

Here is ways I found best to have things set.

Script limits:
This is very important, people who refuse to remove or learn how having too many scripts effects not only the SIMs lag but impact on other people and in world timers for farms and such.

Best limit?
This is tricky, personal in my cave I use 120, people can still look pretty but we can have a huge crowd and the SIM lag is nil to very minimal.

For rest of SIM we use 150 scripts, again allows people to still look pretty and the crowds add minimal lag if at all, unless all buoys run multiplier events, then we hit 2-5% SIM lag at most. Still well within a tiny amount.

Payment info on file:
I only use this in my cave, not for rest of SIM. While it does limit legitimate people sometimes, mostly it does stop quite a few alts, griefers and problem people coming in. Though if it's a parcel be sure buoy is 31m from all edges and parcel fly over is not enabled in land settings (if only renting a parcel an estate manager will need to set).

You can add people to "always allowed" list in land settings to allow people you know/trust who don't have payment info so they can still access the SIM/parcel.

Invisible barriers and distances:
Setting these up if you use a parcel can contain people in a certain area, have the distance to edge over 31m from a buoy will stop anyone fishing outside designated area or from parcel boundaries. Very helpful for stopping those adamant on disregarding a parcel's settings without the need for constant monitoring.

Anti-AFK bot:
While these can be annoying to people, it is a good way to minimize cheating of AFK-fishers. Won't stop them completely but will minimize it and also gives a good insight on who needs to be watched.

Age limit:
I only use this in my cave, set to 30 days, while it does limit legitimate people sometimes, mostly it does stop quite a few alts, griefers and problem people coming in.

Visitor Tracking:
addition thanks to Genghisbeer.
Visitor tracking function which means that SIM hoppers will be caught and SIM hopping is more a gold hunt thing. Going to a SIM clicking the coins going to another click more coins then go back to the first to claim the coins. Those that regularly SIM hop you don't count as traffic until you have been on SIM for 5 minutes, so you are taking and giving nothing in return.

Best security system to manage this stuff:
Having tried many and also attempted to develop my own, the best system I found that works well and doesn't mess up as much as the others, easy to use, set up and add managers and guest lists is CasperTech security, while on the pricer side, only need to purchase once and can use on multiple parcel/lands. Very easy interface as well as a great website for viewing statistics and settings. The others I tried don't compare.

I will note, best to avoid VooDoo security systems. Speak to me personally if you want to know why.

While casper's system doesn't offer anti-AFK and it's been almost impossible to find one, I did manage to get a hold of one that WIli uses. Works well, while a little annoying it is very effective.

Players may consider all this overkill, or excessive or annoying or whatever but landowners spend A LOT of money with LGH systems, and many do not just host LGH games but run other things to help pay SIM costs or system costs, so having good management of their land is essential. Limiting issues and the need for constant monitoring and lessening the chance of cheats and issues is a great thing.

Now overall, nothing will beat a keen eye, observations skills will out beat any automated system but these above suggestions will help reduce the need for it.

These are just my findings, suggestions and opinions I have found useful. It is up to the individual to decide what they see suitable for their land.

Have additions you think should be here, IM me :)
