Depending on what you sell, the company "taxes" or takes a commission on pretty much anything you'd sell. Unless rates have changed again recently, the following amounts are how much the company charges:

Fish                       70% (You keep 30%)
Poo                       60% (You keep 40%)
Charcoal                60% (You keep 40%)
Mushrooms            60% (You keep 40%)
Biowaste                50% (You keep 50%)
Worms                   20% (You keep 80%)
Sunflower Seeds     20% (You keep 80%)

This info isn't publicly posted anywhere (except for Biowaste which has a hover-text explaining it carries a commission) though myself and others have requested it to be many times.  I asked for well over SIX months in group chat and IMs with ADS management and finally gave up trying hehe.  I used to be told they couldn't do it because they were busy trying to release "Snuffles" and working out all the bugs with that.  Then it was that they were too busy with Kingdoms and Empires, among other reasons that we'll leave out of this post. Maybe one day an effort will be made by the company to post this info upfront for all to see BEFORE they participate so everyone involved knows what to expect, allowing the company to operate in 100% honest, open light. =)

Having said that, if you ever ask in LGH group chat, mods will usually make every effort to answer any other questions you may have or will work hard to find answers for you. Just about every single mod that works in this community are awesome and caring folks that truly try to help as best they can!

Hope this helps with your question!

I'd like to point out here that noone is hiding anything. These figures have always been in place and they serve an important role in controlling inflation in our economy as well as other issues. There's always been a certain amount of discovery about our games when playing them.

waves hello to keeblo and sends a thank you as well. As a GM/Mod, I appreciate the appreciation keeb \o/   Also as a GM/Mod, I can attest to first hand that the original response of "too busy with snuffles" was an honest and truthful answer. And so has every "too busy with" response given since then. The truth is we are understaffed and the business is growing fastly. What happens is a list . This list is a 'honey-do" list and it grows as fast as the company. Faster, even. The last honey-do list got emptied in one huge push that gave us much of the web site pages as they stand today...many of the requests and suggestions from players, and necessary component updates. The next big push may well see the info mentioned become posted...and it may not. It depends on where it sits on the list. Having said that, I will also say this; whenever requested, we, the GM's/Mods. make every effort to provide the up-to-date commission/taxes figures. Failing to have the info posted does not hinder the company from operating in 100% honest, open light. =)

Amy, out of respect for you, I won't disclose here the explanation you personally gave me regarding these taxes and why nothing is posted on them (regarding perception)...but at the very least you shouldn't come contradict yourself here. You have a player who started this thread/blog that had NO idea about these taxes or that the company even applies them, that DIRECTLY contradicts your comment here about nothing being hidden.  Even as of this very minute, you or Wili could go post it publicly as a sign by the exchanges or update the hover texts so all are aware, instead you spend your time replying to my post in this blog.

Daisy, as I just mentioned to Amy, the fact that you have a player who started this thread/blog that had NO idea about these taxes or that the company even applies them, directly contradicts your statment of "failing to have the info posted does not hinder the company from operating in 100% honest, open light. =)"

Again, I asked for over 6 months for this issue to be resolved, this is NOT an issue of folks being too busy to do it...it's willfully just deciding NOT to do it. Which do you think would be a better use of your time...replying to blogs and trying to convince people they are wrong...or just simply taking 5 minutes to make and rez a sign at the exchanges so all players know ahead of time what rules they are participating under? Please give it some honest thought.

Gotta agree with you here Keeblo, 'the company' is always too busy rolling out new things, to fix the old things or work on that so called to-do list. Old things remain half finished, while more new broken, half finished things are developed.

My understand about the taxes is to discourage people from buying low and selling high. Its nearly impossible to buy at current price, and then turn around and sell at a profit when there's a 50 or 70% tax on sales.  LOL  In a way it makes sense, but the economy in general is pretty screwed atm. Pricing is determined by the player who collect this stuff and list it for sale.... well except when Wili dumps large amounts of stuff on the market, that he didnt have to take the time to collect, at very low prices. We've seen this done with charcoal when those prices got really high, instead of asking players to put their stockpiles up for sale, now prices are in the toilet. And, I suspect the same reason applies to why bio prices have dropped in half recently.

well if my calculations are correct i cant make any profit at the moment

water= 2l * 4 = 8l

wormpack=10l

biowaste=0,50 l* 3=1,50l

total =19,5l

if i sell for 24 i get :24 - 20%=19,2l

i guess they are only alouwed to have profit.

Hello aikender, if you play Fish Hunt also, getting 3 biowaste in about 2.5 days is not a problem provided you have at least a pro rod. Hence, that will reduce your production cost to farm worms. Higher/better profit is dependent on the Sell price that you set. Of course, you will have to wait for willing buyers. Do some calculation to decide whether it is more profitable for you to use the worms in Fish Hunt or place them in barrels for sale.

Thanks a lot for this essential information Keeblo !

I also didnt find that anywhere else for worms you can sell. Discussed that part of the game "Farming worms" with a friend lately and we came to the same calculation as aikender (except the L$ for the biowaste) because my friend told me he got that while fishing with the pro rod (i still used the beginner rod). So you make around 6L$ if you use the worms (100 within those 2.8 days) for your own (if you get worms on the marketplace for 0,24). That means you have to farm 532 times to get back your investment for 1 farm. You can do this in 532 * 2.8 days = thats over 4 years....if you farm and farm and farm... constantly every 2.8 days.

Now that is if you use them for your own...  if you want to sell them ... hmmm i never saw worms for over 0,25 L$ for sale, mostly they are for 0,24 L$ Who can sell so cheap if there is a tax on the sale ? ppl who are doing it for fun... ok... maybe... but farming worms or the advertisment for it creates the impression that you can earn L$ with it. (FARM WORMS - DOMINATE THE INDUSTRY; Farming Frenzy is a fantastic way to earn linden; sell worms as bait to fishers; just a few slogans from the SL Marketplace for Farm Frenzy). And then there is a statement from Amy:  "There's always been a certain amount of discovery about our games when playing them."

I dont think that essential information for players to calculate their investment should be a "discovery"!

What about a possiblilty for worm farmers to sell their worms on only their barrels at their place for a fair price WITHOUT any tax? That could be an option from my point of view...

Greetings Fritz

Oh...I didn´t know that...I was thinking I am earnning lidens selling this worms...never checked...thanks for information. Zo/

Off course I never go recover my money invested I bought all rods, farms, etc...but the problem for me not the money...are this farmer XP...If a new player buy just one farmer (very expensive) and like just have fun...they don´t go have fun because one farm small worms...for u get the other tasty you need 256 xp...and earnning 1 xp every 48 hours...you go need to wait 512 days (1 year and half) ...
Why never have events or double xp with farmes...or change that giving a possiblity for when u collect worms u win some bonus xp...as you move up in rank...I love the game and fish everyday long hours, but very disappointed about farms...others things I am having fun.Thanks.
