Hello. I read a blog post today that got me thinking about the difference between options and obligations. The blog writer unintentionaly presented the post in such a way as to show not only how connected each of the game components of goldtokens games are but to highlight that they were options the writer decided to take. Choice is a major factor and all choices, be they in SL or RL, should be looked at and researched carefully before one commits to them. The choices in our games that you make can greatly affect how much entertainment you gain from playing, as well as how quickly you obtain a little profit. Choosing to embrace all parts and commit to some investment of time and money can assure you of a quicker arrival at the profit result, but choosing to opt out of the options to buy better equipment will still get you there, just not as quickly. The point is, these are options - not obligations. One must decide for themselves based on personal needs, expectations, and resources. And form these opinions after some game play, not base them on what other players tell you on your first day in. Talk to some long term players, talk to some farmers some hunters some fishers. But above all, discover what the options are that are available and see if they are what you want to include. The game is just as fun for the single-purpose fisher/hunter who uses the beginner rod or just the hunt hud to follow their goal as it is for the one who jumps in with both feet and commits to all the options. In the end it's YOUR choice that decides how you play. The options are not obligations - have fun!
